Connecting Philadelphia's youth through ultimate frisbee
Who We Are
Frisbee Friends is an initiative formed by a group of high school ultimate players to teach and play the sport of ultimate frisbee with kids of different backgrounds—especially those that haven't been afforded the same opportunities as them. These students saw the ways frisbee impacted their lives and decided to share that with others. Through the process, they discovered the power of ultimate to also break down divisions and create lasting friendships.
Going On Now
Through a partnership with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Frisbee Friends volunteers travel to Drexel University to play ultimate with children from the Lutheran Settlement House. In addition, thanks to support from Lutheran, Frisbee Friends meets with the children at Clark Park to further play frisbee.
Why Ultimate?
Ultimate was founded on the principles of spirit and fairplay. It's self-officiated, meaning players must trust each other to make the right calls. It's this trust, along with a conscious effort by all frisbee players to cheer and support each other, that facilitates the forging of new bonds and shapes an unreplicable community on and off the field.
